Defense Wins Championships - In Fantasy too.

Let's evaluate the top 10 defenses as of this point in the season and determine whether or not they will hold up for the long haul and your playoff run.

Start-Em / Bench ‘Em for Week 8

draft_strategyThe best fantasy offense may be a good defense.  Defense is a position that many take for granted and this season there is a clear reason as to why people don’t draft high on them.  The Bears remain the exception.  Granted the Cardinals ran up some points on them two weeks ago, but they redeemed themselves by scoring a bunch.  The next best defense is the Ravens who have scored about as many fantasy points as the Bears in most scoring formats.  After that it is a hodgepodge of defenses starting with Denver, San Diego, Minnesota, Philadelphia, New England, Atlanta, Arizona, and New Orleans.

Week 7 Wrap-Up

Week 7 NFL / Fantasy Wrap-Up
 
This week is a great example of why they play the games.  Going with the favorites would have killed you this week, if you were the betting sort.  Only the Colts seem to have the pigskin of destiny, however, a few other teams used this week to distance themselves or catch up to the pack.  In the AFC, New England has a 2 game lead and the Broncos now have a 1 game advantage, the Bengals have caught back up to Baltimore, the Colts have 3 games in hand.  In the NFC, it seems to be more bungling than good play the Eagles drop another to let the Giants or Cowboys take the lead over in the East, the Seahawks have allowed St. Louis to get back into a tie with them, the Vikings took a step closer to the Bears and the Falcons used over time to stay one game behind the Saints.From a fantasy perspective the wide receivers are starting to emerge and it is turning around the fates of many teams.

How was this possible? How could it be?  How do the Cardinals squander a 20-3 lead and then end up losing to the Bears after forcing Grossman to turn the ball over 6 times?  How can they lose without letting the other team score an offensive TD?  Let's investigate the game and the fantasy impact of the performances.
